Da Nang
A beach city where the spa scene grew up alongside the resorts. Four-hand massages, bamboo treatments, and couple rooms at prices that make daily spa visits reasonable.
The short version
Da Nang sits between the My Khe beachfront and the old town of Hoi An, and its spa scene benefits from both: resort-trained therapists working in independent day spas at local prices. Small, well-run houses near the beach offer four-hand and bamboo massages that would be signature-menu items elsewhere, and nearly every good spa has proper couple rooms. A 90-minute session runs $15–30, hotel pickup is often included, and the standard of English is high. This is the easiest city in Vietnam to build a slow beach-and-spa week around.

Etiquette, tipping & good sense
How it works here
Similar to the rest of Vietnam: same-gender therapists standard, disposable underwear provided, herbal tea before and after. Beach-town spas are casual — shorts and sandals are fine to arrive in. Many offer free hotel pickup for bookings over about an hour.
Tipping
10–15% in cash directly to the therapist. Some beachfront spas include a small service charge for card payments; cash tips still reach the right person more reliably.
Choosing well
Quality is high near My Khe; the main variable is skill level rather than legitimacy. Book named, reviewed houses. Check that oil massages use fresh linens per guest — the good places make a point of it.
